Work Package 12 focuses primarily on practical consumer-oriented instruments; it also looks at (communication) instruments at the interface of production and consumption which create incentives for consumers and businesses to consume and produce in a more resource-efficient manner (B2C, B2P). Examples of this are public procurement / approaches to procurement, point of sale programmes / customer integration, standards / labels, the top runner approach, education / qualifications (school / university, as well as vocational and continuing education).
Work Packages 3, 4 and 12 will work in close consultation to combine the findings from the three areas within an overall policy mix. Their research agendas are therefore co-ordinated in a careful and targeted manner.
Communication-related approaches play a central role in this analysis of existing resource policies for the consumer sector, as well as in the development of suggested measures for resource policy in the area of consumer-oriented instruments and those at the interface of production and consumption.
