The main tasks of Work Package 14 are:
- A critical analysis of the European Commission's work programme for the further application of the EU Ecodesign Directive, as well as of the proposals for their implementation with respect to selected product categories;
- Specialist support to determine Germany's position within the European consultation process for ecodesign implementing measures;
- Support for the practical application of future-oriented ecodesign.
These tasks are to be carried out following dialogue with relevant groups in Germany. The aim is to achieve an extensive but practice-oriented consideration of ecodesign in EU implementing measures, in the related industry standards and in the national implementation process of the EU Ecodesign Directive. In addition, this work package aims to achieve greater awareness in Germany of the importance and practical implementation of future-oriented ecodesign.
The first step will involve the compilation of a series of short expert reports on the EU Ecodesign Directive and their implementation at European and national levels. There will also be a proposal for the further development of the directive. The second step will involve preparing, executing and following up on some six specialist dialogues held in a smaller circle.
